Apollo Caffeine Gum Sugar Free - Spearmint Flavor Caffeinated Chewing Candy with Xylitol to Help Teeth and Immunity - Energy Gum 80mg Caffeine - Single 5pcs I tried my Apollo Sugar Free Spearmint Caffeinated Gum today instead of having an energy drink or coffee in the afternoon. With 80 mg of caffeine, it gave me the caffeine I was looking for. A Grande Americano from the place on the corner has 75 mg of caffeine in addition to a whole lotta calories because of the half-and-half and sugar I put into it. The small can of red bovine drink has 80 mg and you have to drink the thing down, either with calories or sugar-free, and it's not yummy. The point, after all, is to be alert and awake. So, I opened my individually wrapped piece of gum. I was surprised at the size of it; it was pretty big. It smelled minty. I popped it into my mouth and started chewing. Minty and sweet at first and then a gush of liquid medicine was released from the gum. I'm calling it medicine, because that's what it is. It's a drug. Caffeine was what I was after and caffeine is what I got, with a unique delivery system. The first 20 seconds of the release of the liquid isn't the most pleasant, but it isn't awful. It's all relative. I got 80 mg of caffeine without the $4 coffee or the attendant calories (or the trip to go get it), or the energy drink. It reverted back to plain old spearmint gum after the medicine was deployed. The caffeine did the job.
